Worsted-spun baby yak down yarn is a luxury fiber that will yield a fabric unlike anything you have knit before. Baby yak has a similar micron count around 17 microns to cashmere. mYak Baby Yak Medium yarn is born in Tibet and crafted in Italy. Yak and sheep roam freely in the Highlands of Tibet. These fibers are harvested from the undercoats of baby yaks raised by nomadic families. Once hand-combed and collected, the raw fiber is then sent to Italy where the yarn is made using traditional spinning techniques and dyed on a natural basis with no bleaching or decoloring. Colors will vary from season to season depending on the shade of the natural fibers, making it at times darker and at times lighter. This is the beauty of working with natural fibers and therefore the shade of the sample you see photographed here, might not always correspond to the shade we have in stock.
