My Story
I grew up working in our family’s country store running the cash register, pumping gas, and digging worms to sell to the local fishermen. With a love for crafting, I sewed my own clothes and made quilts. I crocheted granny square afghans and beer hats. Remember those? Then I got busy with my engineering and manufacturing career and crafting was put to the side. As I approached retirement my mom taught me how to knit. Now I am an avid knitter with a passion for yarns made from loved animals, and processing as close to home as possible.
LOVermont Yarns is pulling all of that together in a simple plan to source and sell quality yarns made with natural fibers and sustainable processes from known places. The yarns that we offer are all made of 100% natural fibers, both animal and plant. We have a selection of wools and mulesing-free merino wool, mohair, alpaca, cashmere, cottons, linens and silks. We do not offer any yarns with man-made fibers such as polyester, acrylic, nylon, polyamide, viscose, lyocell, metallics or “other”, nor do we offer any yarns that have had superwash treatments.
I believe we are all connected in this world. We partner with those who care deeply about our planet and its occupants, and who are transparent about the source of fiber and processes used to produce their yarn. I want all of us to appreciate the complexities of the fiber arts world, and all the animals and artisans who bring quality yarns to us!
With Love & Purls,
Sue
