Freia Fine Handpaints - Shawl Ball, Single-Ply Fingering Weight, 100% US Merino Wool
Freia Fine Handpaints - Shawl Ball, Single-Ply Fingering Weight, 100% US Merino Wool
Yarn balls are available in the colors shown in picture, or in the opposite color wind (inside color is the outside color). If it matters to you which one you get, please note your preference in your order and we will accommodate if we can.
Smooth, slow gradations are the signature of the Freia Ombré color range. They carefully transition five or more colors or shades per ball making for very long, yet still dramatic color changes. With over 400 yards you will find enough yarn to create a medium sized shawl that is light but warm. Use 2 balls and you will have a large warm shawl or wrap to see you through the chilliest of days. The gradients transition smoothly keeping you engaged and enthralled as you work on your project!
Freia’s custom-spun single-ply merino is grown on small farms in the Rockies and milled in North Carolina. The yarn is hand-dyed at our studio in North Adams, Massachusetts with acid dyes using processes that are gentle to the environment. The yarn is untreated so it must be washed by hand or it will felt. Though a single-ply, you will find it strong as our dyeing process very gently felts the yarn making it durable enough to handle the maneuvering of cables, lace and of course, tinking. When attaching one ball to the next, wet-splicing will give you a smooth, invisible and reliable join.
